RDP pulls from your local computer and manually installing them on the server and assigning them to the printing.
Symptoms
Cannot print certain files, margins are off, issues with printing…
User uses Remote Desktop Protocol and the printer’s assigned driver is “Remote Desktop Easy Print”
Cause
The printer drivers RDP pulls from your local machine are not being transferred correctly
For Mac OS users the Windows drivers and Mac OS drivers are not the same, which causes issues transferring the document over to the printer as 2 different drivers are touching it.
Resolution
If prompted during initial connection to the server. Make sure the checkbox for printers is selected.
On the server press the buttons [START] + “R”. This will open up a “Run” box.
Type in gpedit.msc and go to User Configuration > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Printer Redirection.
Double click on “Use Remote Desktop Easy Print Printer Driver First
Select “Disabled” and click “OK”
Open up a command prompt and type in “gpupdate” and click enter
Once it says that the policies have been updated successfully, install the drivers for the printer. Usually you can find these with a quick google search.
Once the printer drivers are installed, the easy printer driver is disabled and the policies have been updated, log the user off the server and have them log back in.
You can then confirm that the drivers are updated successfully by going into the printer’s properties and checking the drivers. If all went well it will say the printer’s drivers instead of the “Remote Desktop Easy Print”
After confirming that the drivers have changed have the user log in to RMA and go in their Local Settings > Printers.
Here you want to remove the printer for which we assigned the drivers and hit save.
Once saved, edit it again and re-assign the printer for which we assigned the drivers.
