Install/Move QB to Cloud Server 2022
Overview
This article outlines the process for migrating the QuickBooks application from an older server version to our new Cloud Server 2022. To ensure a smooth transition, we highly recommend that the SysAdmin handles this process.
Process
NOTE: If you are setting up QuickBooks for a new customer on our Cloud Server, please begin the process from step 2.
- Confirm with customer what the actual cutover will be. After you make a final copy of their QB they can no longer use it on their local desktops as that access will be outdated or obsolete.
- Connect to customer, find QB file, make a local Back up. Transfer that QB Back up using Simple Help to the Cloud server, make a file folder on the C drive that is easy to find. Typically, C:\Users\Public\Public Documents is where Intuit will make a folder during step 5 so that folder could be a good spot.
- Go to Help>About and take a screenshot of the version of QB and the License and Product numbers & info.
- Ask customer for a log in and password for QB so you can log in once they have moved to the server.
- Go to Cloud server, download the version of QB the customer has from this site https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products.
- Open the Control Panel on the server.
- Open “Install Application on Remote Desktop Server” wizard.
- Select “Next” when prompted to input a CDROM or Floppy Disk. Use the browse to find the installer. Run through the installer within the wizard.
- Add the QB license info to completely finish the install.
- When prompted to use Custom or Express settings, select “Custom”
- Make sure to select “I’ll be using QB Desktop on this computer.”
- Once the install finishes QB will open and ask that you restore the backup copy and sign in with the admin credentials.
- Each user should follow the steps to log in/open that same QB file in the cloud and confirm they can get in and pull open the file ok.
- Add the Intuit Folder with the backup, and all the QB install files to the Mango Backup.
