CMC-Maximum File Size Limit

When sending messages through our CMC Generate Messages Window, you may run into a warning that the File Size Limit has been hit. This warning is indicating that one of the three items below has been triggered:

  • The size of each message is larger than 150kb.
  • There is a large # of messages sending out each month.
  • CMC history messages are being stored for a long period of time.

Use the following steps to clear this warning message before proceeding with sending the messages out.

Message Size is Larger than 150kb

In some mass messages, you may want to include images or PDF's to be sent out with the general email. When doing so, you will want to make sure that the file you are attaching is no larger than 150kb. If the file size is larger than 150kb, you will need to reduce the message or replace the image/PDF with a smaller size.

Large # of Messages

The CMC messaging table has a limit of 1.8GB of stored data. If there is a large number of messages going out with a high file size, it can max out the table and error out/not send the messages.

To avoid this, we recommend the following process:

  1. Have all users log out of RMA.
  2. Go to File>Pack.
  3. This will put you into Single User mode and remove any items in RMA marked for deletion as well as clear older messages on the CMC table.
  4. Once done, test the process again.
CMC History

RMA allows you to store CMC history for a certain period of time. This time frame is determined based on what the user has setup under File>Branch Setup>Logging>CMC Messages.

Under this setting, whenever the Period is closed or the Packing process is done, it will permanently delete the message history for messages older than XX days.

Note: This does not clear the CMC messages on the Contacts Tab. That is controlled by the "Contact Messages" field above CMC Messages.

If you are a company that sends out a large amount of messages throughout the month and you run into the "CMC File Size Limit" message frequently, it is recommended that you run a pack every other week to keep the CMC table low.

Another tool you can use to cleanup the CMC table is the "Purge CMC History" function.

Located under Tools>Administration>Purge CMC History.

The following window will populate:

Input the amount of days you would like the feature to use in order to delete messages prior to the date is populates to the right.

The date indicates that all CMC messages will be permanently delete for anything older than that date.

Note: In this case you would want a date no older than 365 days if the File Size error continues to occur.

Click the check mark to process the tool.

Once complete, run a packing process in RMA through File>Pack (this is a Single User Mode Function).

Try the messaging process again. If you are still receiving the error, reach out to Support@advantagers.com.
