Advanced Pricing V8

Introduction

This article provides an in-depth overview of the Advanced Pricing Schemes available in RMA Version 8. The content below will guide you through the various pricing options and methodologies that can be utilized to optimize product pricing for customers, including the hierarchy of pricing, default product pricing, and advanced pricing lists.

Pricing Hierarchy

  1. Default Product Pricing:

When "Select Lowest Price" is enabled, the system will automatically find the lowest price available for the product assigned to a customer.

  1. Advanced Pricing List:
  • If a product is listed both as a default product and on an advanced pricing list, the default product price will take precedence over any pricing on the advanced list.
  • When multiple advanced price lists are assigned to a customer, the customer will receive the lowest price available.

Standard Price

Every product in Route Manager has an associated Standard Price, typically representing the highest price charged for the item. If no alternate pricing options are assigned to a customer, the Standard Price will be used. This price is set under Lists > Product Codes > Product Charge Codes on the Pricing tab. Enter the price in the ‘Price’ field.

Default Product Price

To view customer default products, navigate to Lists > Customer Information > Products > Default Products.

  • Default products are displayed with a white background and black text.
  • Products with an advanced pricing method are shown in green.
  • Expired products are highlighted in red.
  • Similar products are highlighted in yellow.
  • If no advanced pricing method is applied, the price tag will be orange; if a pricing method is applied, the price tag will be green.

Advanced Pricing

Advanced Pricing Methods can be managed under Lists > Product Codes > Advanced Pricing. Below are the key fields and their definitions:

Fields:

Code: Enter up to 10 characters to use as a Advanced Pricing Identifier

Description: Enter a description of your Advanced Pricing Method

Start Date/End Date: If this is a promotional price list you can enter a valid start and end date for the advanced pricing method.

Available Branches: Select branches for the advanced pricing method to apply to

Group Calculation Type: For group quantity discounts you can select a calculation type, None, Percentage, or Fixed.  Below you will enter the from and to ranges with the discount applied.

Note: When converting from version 7.2 to version 8, all prior pricing schemes will be converted into Advanced Pricing Methods:

  • Price levels will be converted to lists with codes such as LEVEL1, LEVEL2, LEVEL3, etc.
  • Quantity Discount Pricing will be converted to lists with codes like QTYDISC.
  • Price Lists will be converted to lists with codes such as LIST0010, LIST00102, LIST00103, etc.
  • Promotional Price Lists will use codes like PROMO0001, PROMO0002, etc.
  • Group Product Discounts will be converted to lists with codes such as GROUP (PRODGROUPCODE).

Adding Products to Advanced Pricing by Product Charge Code

Products can be added to advanced pricing by selecting the 'Add' button.

From there, you can add products by:

  • Product Charge Code

  • Product Class

  • By Product Group Price Levels

Product Group Price Levels: This option allows you to define ranges of quantities and prices for customer invoicing. Enter the desired quantity and price for each level. For the final level of discounts, enter ‘99999’ in the ‘To’ field.

Price Lists

Price Lists enable customized pricing for groups of customers. For example, if you deliver to multiple stores in a chain with consistent product pricing, create a Price List that includes all relevant items with their respective prices.

  • If a product not included in the customer's Price List is sold, the price defaults to the customer's Standard Price or Price Level.
  • Add items to the Price List with the desired prices and quantities.

NOTE: If you are operating on RMA version 8.2 R3 6960+, the "Start Date" and "End Date" fields on the pricing list HAVE to be filled in. BOTH are required or the pricing will not populate on desktop or for drivers.

Promotional Price Lists

This pricing method allows promotional prices for a specified period, ideal for temporary promotions. When creating a list, select the Promotional Price List option and enter the active dates. Add the desired items with their respective prices and quantities.

Quantity Discount Pricing

This method provides customers with discounted prices when they purchase a specified quantity of a single item. The more they purchase, the lower the unit price becomes.

Group Calculation Type

Product Group Discounts offer discounts on groups of products rather than individual items. This option is ideal for scenarios where discounts are based on the total quantity of combined products purchased as a group.

  • Discounts can be set as a percentage or a flat rate off the total quantity.
  • Example: Product Group ‘X’ includes all coffee products. If a customer purchases more than 15 items from this group, they receive a 10% discount on those items. Only items in Product Group ‘X’ qualify for this discount.

Assigning Advanced Pricing to Customers

To assign Advanced Pricing to customers, navigate to Lists > Customer Information > Products > Default Products.

  • A green price tag indicates an advanced pricing method; an orange tag indicates no advanced pricing method.
  • To assign a pricing method, select Modify > Price Tag, then choose the desired method from the dropdown list.
